ISO 31700
Consumer protection: privacy by design for consumer goods and services

Arrow Down

Welcome
Bienvenue
Willkommen

ISO 31700 promotes and standardizes privacy practices so consumers can enjoy technology and other consumer products without sacrificing their privacy rights and values.  This standard operationalizes the privacy-focused data management concepts first established in Canada in 2009 by Privacy Commissioner Ann Cavoukian, and has since been adopted worldwide both for its human values, and for its legal value.  ISO 31700 embraces win-win privacy solutions for the next generation of consumer products ranging from social media, to banking, to clothing.

SERVICES

Events

The ISO 31700 series standards are scheduled for publication on January 31st 2023, presenting the first set of high-level requirements for ensuring consumer privacy is embedded into the design of a product or service, protecting privacy throughout the whole life cycle. The new standard will not only facilitate compliance with regulations but generate greater consumer trust at a time when it is needed most.
The launch webinar will provide an overview of 31700 and provide context, as well as help
stakeholders in the application of these documents. The intended audience includes business managers and owners, engineers, consumer privacy advocates, and technology practitioners who are involved in the design, training, implementation, lifecycle operation, or auditing of digitally enabled consumer goods and services.  Enterprises, bootstrapped startups, and everyone in between is welcome to join!

31700 Launch Event -  Recording & Office Hours

For folks that are unable to attend the launch event on February 8th 2023, we will make a recording available of the launch event.  Please check back after February 8th 2023 for further information and access to the recording.

Due to the strong demand for this standard, the launch event has over 500 people registered. Understandably this is too many people to conduct a worthwhile Q&A session.  Therefore, the Q&A session will take place the following week.

Individuals interested in submitting questions or participating in this office hours event should click here.

The Congress will bring together top thinkers from the privacy, data governance, information security, government, and legal worlds.

Congress 2023 is the opportunity to explore leading issues at the crossroads of privacy, access, security, compliance, law and technology and how they matter to you, your career, and your organization.
